Witch's Hat (aka hygrocybe conica) mushrooms are commonly found here in Southwest Colorado during the summertime. Inspired by my own photographs of these mushrooms as well as vintage illustrations, I endeavored to create a fairly realistic mushroom using a thread painting technique. The mushroom was meticulously stitched with just one strand of embroidery floss.
To further elevate the design, I hand-painted a coordinating frame using acrylic paints. The green frame features delicately painted white vines. Prefer my standard aspen wood frame instead? Contact me by email before or after placing your order and I'll happily swap frames for you.
This piece arrives in a white box tied with ribbon, ready for gift-giving.
