I'm super excited to share that I was named to Country Living's inaugural the Country's 100 Most Creative People list! What a way to kick off 2018! The magazine's January/February 2018 issue is all about creativity and I'm honored to be included amongst a number of makers, artists, and designers I've long admired.

I am so excited to be doing an online pop-up shop with the wonderful retailer Furbish! If you aren't familiar with Furbish, they are a Raleigh, NC, based shop with unique finds for your home you won't find anywhere else. Think one-of-a-kind vintage rugs, colorful artwork, and the cutest accessories.
I was so excited when they invited me to participate in their artist pop-up series. I spend much of the past months creating pieces exclusively for this sale. You'll find blue and white vases full of flowers, colorful rainbow flowers on bright blue and turquoise linen, and my favorite blue flowers pieces. And they are released just in time for Mother's Day! The shop goes live today (May 9) at 11am EST over at Furbish!

I'm thrilled to share that my hand embroidered artwork is featured in Issue 4 of Knit Wit magazine, a quarterly magazine devoted to contemporary fiber arts and craft. It is a truly beautiful magazine with gorgeous images and profiles of people in the fiber arts community.
My work was photographed alongside the work of Liz Payne and Jane Denton, two spectacular artists, on a feature about hand embroidery.

The April issue of House Beautiful that features my embroidery is on newsstands now! I hope you've had a chance to check it out. I wanted to share more details about the piece I was commissioned to create!
I worked with the lovely editors on the design idea and the color palette. The piece itself is a bit larger than the actual magazine photograph - about 8" x 9.5". This is a larger scale than I usually stitch, so I adjusted my flower sizes accordingly. While a typical flower of mine might be an inch (like you see in this piece), the flowers I stitched for the magazine were about 3 inches tall.
I loved this color palette. It reminds me a lot of the Desert Southwest - pinks, dusty roses, peaches, rusts, copper, and greenish browns. I also stitched "Some New Threads," though a font was ultimately used in the magazine spread. I worked on a cream colored linen twill that held the stitches really well.
The entire piece took an estimated 30+ hours to stitch. I lost count after about hour 30! I stitched the piece over a four day period. This was an amazing project to work on and I am so grateful to the editors of House Beautiful for entrusting me to create something beautiful for their pages!

I have some very exciting news to share, perhaps some of the most exciting news in my company's 4.5 year history...my embroidery work is featured in the April issue of House Beautiful magazine!
The editors behind the magazine contacted me a few months ago and commissioned me to embroider a special piece to open "The Best" section of the magazine. I jumped at the chance and loved working with the wonderful section editors.
I loved working with this color palette so much that I used it into many of the newest pieces of embroidery that I released last week. Shop them here.

I'm so excited to share that Happy Cactus was featured this week on Design*Sponge!! D*S is hands-down my favorite blog to read on a daily basis, so seeing my work appear on their site was like a dream coming true! The post was titled 18 Embroidery Instagram Feeds to Follow and I am so appreciative of editor Grace Bonney's kind words about my work.
It is a great round-up and I was humbled to be listed amongst so many other talented artists.

Stationery Trends is the leading trade show magazine for the stationery industry and is read by paper and gift boutique owners, designers, event planners, and members of the press/blogosphere.
The cards shown on the cover are my flat cactus note cards. They are sold as an assorted set of 8 and really stand out because I hand-finish each card with gold paint. You can find them in the shop here.
I have been working hard to improve my product photography (I take all of my own product photos - learn more about my process in this post) so it is quite validating to see my work on the cover of a magazine!

Springtime is a busy season for the stationery industry with the National Stationery Show taking place and buyers eager to place orders for the fall and holiday seasons. Happy Cactus Designs' thank you cards were recently featured in two great trade publications (meaning they are primarily read by shop owners).
The Thanks Garden card was featured in the spring issue of Stationery Trends.
Meanwhile, the Thank You Black Diamond card was included in the May issue of Gifts and Decorative Accessories.
I'm excited to share that Happy Cactus Designs' Sweet Birthday Wishes card is featured in the March/April 2014 issue of Giftware News. Giftware News is one of the top trade magazines for the gift industry. The card is featured in a big spread on new stationery designs.
